Hi my name is Mindy and I have always had a passion for birth work and prenatal support even when I went to massage school at Myotherapy School of Massage in Utah in 1997. I learned about deep relaxation, gentle movements, massage, pressure point work, deep abdominal breathing, and listening to our bodies. Through massage, I learned birth can be a beautiful and wonderful experience.
I decided to take a Bradley Method class to prepare for our first baby and loved my class and birth so much I decided to become a teacher a few years later. I took my first childbirth teacher training in The Bradley Method ® in April 2004. I have now continued my education with Informed Beginnings and am very excited to pass on the things I have learned and the amazing wealth of information about childbirth and breastfeeding. I am always inspired and awed to play a small part in this amazing process.
April 2013 I became a prenatal massage specialist at Salt Lake Prenatal Massage where I was able to work with hundreds of prenatal and postpartum clients before becoming the prenatal massage specialist at inSPArations day spa. I now have my own office in Layton. I have also expanded my prenatal massage and childbirth education training to include Doula training that gives me added comfort techniques for labor, emotional support to help the mother and partner deal with unexpected situations in labor, and mother advocacy to help them create their optimal birth experience. I have also completed Stillbirthday Doula training and am now certified as a Stillbirthday Doula. The SBD Doula is uniquely qualified to provide support in situations of fatal diagnosis, carrying to term, and NICU care. SBD Doulas are equally prepared to provide comprehensive support in live birth outcomes, including subsequent “rainbow” pregnancies, and can serve as a labor support in all birth situations.
I love working with my clients whether it is easing aches and pains during a massage or getting the awe inspiring opportunity to be a part of a birth. I truly love my job and am thankful every day I get to do what I do. :) Since moving back to Utah I have really enjoyed living in the Weber/Davis area.
